tomiPay: Multi-chain payments connected to your tomi name
tomiPay is the self-custodial multi-chain wallet that serves as the default wallet on the tomiNet. The initial issuance of the $TOMI is as an ERC-20 token, so it is possible to use a Metamask or other ERC-20 supporting wallet for $TOMI. The future roadmap includes creating a dedicated tomi L1 blockchain, but for the foreseeable future, the $TOMI will continue as an ERC-20 token, with features of the tomiNet supported using Polygon as well as Ethereum transactions.
However, the tomiPay wallet offers a number of advantages over the existing wallets:
- Multi-chain. tomiPay provides support for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB/BSC, Polygon, and Phantom, including NFTs and coins supported by those chains. Additional chains will be added to the wallet in future versions.
- Self-custodial. KYC is not a requirement for using of tomiPay. KYC will be implemented as part of the Self-Sovereign Identity features that will be built into the wallet. Self-custodial KYC will allow individuals and businesses to choose their own KYC providers and control when and to whom they expose their private data.
- Like all of the source code in the tomi ecosystem, the source code and developments of the wallet are under the governance of tomiDAO, so the control and security of the app belong to the netizens.
- Associates with username and domain name purchases on the *.tomi network, as described below. Similar to how a Metamask wallet can show the ENS .eth address, the tomi wallet can show the .tomi address.
The tomiPay wallet will make it easy to purchase tomi domains, interact with businesses in the tomiNet, store, exchange, and stake cryptocurrencies.
tomi Domains and tomiPay
As described in the blog on the tomiDNS, the tomi domain names are NFT smart contracts which, when purchase, provide the buyer the *.tomi address, a private key address (TOR address), IPFS address, and the username of the address. So, for example if you purchase the name BestOnlineShop.tomi, your wallet address can be set to frankenstein, and anyone with a tomi wallet can simply send $TOMI Ethereum, Bitcoin, or any of the other supported tokens to “BestOnlineShop” on the tomi net, and you will receive those tokens to your wallet.
If you don’t own a *.tomi address. You will simply have a cryptographic public key, just like any other self-custodial crypto wallet. You need to purchase the *.tomi address using $TOMI tokens, of course.
Choose your wallet and currency
The tomiPay wallet allows both the payer and payee to choose the currency they want to spend and receive. The system can automatically perform a decentralized currency swap, supported by the oracles on the Chainlink system and the exchange partners that tomi has selected. Transaction fees can be up to 2%, with all transaction fees going to the DAO treasury. The DAO treasury can change the transaction fees at any time while keeping them below the 2% mark.
tomiNet supports Metamask as well as a number of other initial wallets. The DAO can vote to support additional wallets, or to ban a wallet if it is experiencing technical or security issues.
The tomiPay wallet is an essential part of the system to allow the netizens on tomi to have a wallet that they themselves can govern. While tomi expects to see many additional wallets, to ensure the system stays robust and usable, the tomiPay wallet will always provide a citizen-owned interface to the tomiNet.
