What if you ran the Internet? Now you can.

Of course, nobody runs the internet literally, but with the takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk, it seems increasingly clear that there are certain points of tremendous power. tomiNet is being built to eliminate the concentration of power at those throttle points–but how do we do it?

Pioneers.

Pioneer is the name we have chosen for the NFTs that will be held by the new rulers of the internet–and you could be one of them. The point of the Pioneers is to ensure that the internet can be changed by the netizens, not by the people who have the most money. For that reason, DAOs are being set up to govern different aspects of the tomiNet and Pioneer NFTs are being sold to you, or whoever wishes to buy them, in order to make sure that governance is distributed among the people.

The first drop of 1500 Pioneer NFTs will be on January 10, 2023, and already we are hearing the excitement in anticipation of the drop, but it’s important to understand that this is not like other NFTs. Yes, there will be monetary value in the Pioneers, but that monetary value is nothing compared to the power distribution mechanism.

The Twitter Files is a perfect demonstration of the types of decisions that can never again be made by a centralized authority if you hold a Pioneer. Do you want an internet where FBI agents are hired to determine who gets online and who doesn’t? Do you want an internet where the largest search engine censors or downregulates informative videos and webpages about cryptocurrency? How about the regulation of political messages and tampering with the elections of major countries all over the world? Banks and MEVs gaming the system and skimming your money on every transaction? Regulation by governments that certain businesses now need a special license to have a storefront on the web? If that’s the internet you want, you got it!

But if it’s not, you want to hold a Pioneer.

When this type of monkey business shows up, you want to have transparency into what is happening. You want to be one of the people who can look underneath the hood and see where the technology is compromised by power figures.

Mostly, you want to be the one who stands in the way of these powerful forces and votes to have those holes plugged, the censorship lifted, businesses enabled, and financial transactions open to all.

The value of a Pioneer is that every Pioneer holder gets the opportunity to change how the tomiNet works. Let’s give an example. You are a Pioneer and you realize that advertisers are using cookies everywhere to harvest data from every user of the internet. You want to implement something like GDPR (the European Privacy initiative) but you know that hasn’t worked well. You can put out a call for proposals and anyone with a better way to handle cookies and tracking on the internet. People with great ideas can submit to you and ask you to sponsor their proposal in the Governance Policy DAO. Now you are the government. You don’t have to wait for the EU to implement some compromise policy that takes three years to get through the government and another three years to be implemented across the world. No.

You assess the proposals. Maybe you put together a little team. Maybe you ask the DAO for some funding to complete the research and pay you for the three months you put in assessing these proposals. You take the best few proposals and ask the DAO to rank, choose and fund the winning solution. This solution could be a technical change in the infrastructure so ad-scraping could never happen again. It could be automation that catches violators of the policy and fines them in crypto on the spot instead of going through a court system. It could be a part of the Moderation DAO that accepts complaints against violations and implements some form of sanction.

Whatever it is, it was initiated by you, the Pioneer, and chosen by the rest of the Pioneers. It resulted in the improvement of the tomiNet. Wouldn’t you like to live in a world where the Web gets constantly cleaner, better, more useful, and more truthful? We would.

That’s why the Pioneers are completely independent of the tomi team and company. The Pioneers will be able to hire and fire the core team–putting tomi out of business if we don’t do a good job. After several years, there will be no need for the tomi company because the fully distributed system will be run by you, the Pioneers.

A free internet run by you.

The first drop is January 10 at a fixed price of $3000. Every day following January 10, there will be auctions of an additional 3 Pioneers per day in an open auction for the first year, 7 in the second year, and 1 per day thereafter.

Each Pioneer will have its mint date, and the longest-held Pioneers will have stronger weighted voting power and be more trusted by the community for prioritized proposal submissions. In other words, you don’t need to pay more to have more power–just show your commitment earlier in the journey. And don’t worry, when you buy a Pioneer, you also get 18,000 $TOMI tokens, so your faith in the project pays off immediately.

So what are you waiting for? Get on the list today to get your Pioneer.
